Review: Kit 15,000 mAh Dual-USB Power Pack / Charger

So, as you probably already know from the other post I posted earlier tonight, I finally got a Moto G to move over my old Motorola Fire XT. I wanted a power pack too for two reasons, #1 – I had never used one, #2 – Motorola didn’t provide an AC adapter, so I needed a solid power source apart from my laptop. So, here’s what I think about the power pack after using it for a few days.

The form factor of this device is quite small for a device boasting a massive 15,000 mAh high-capacity battery. It’s relatively heavy, but again, you can’t expect such a powerful power bank to weigh like a pillow.

The next big thing is the inclusion of a USB out port capable of delivering 2.1A of current. Alongside that, there’s a modest 1A USB out port, and both can work at the same time. So, that means, using the power pack, you can charge up to 2 devices at the same time.

My Moto G supports inputs up to 1.5A, and it automatically adjusts the input if it’s more than 1.5A. So, when connected to the power pack, the battery was fully charged from 10% within a short time of around 60 minutes. Now, that’s a lot faster than what most 550mA to 1A chargers would get you.

The power pack itself, however, does take a while to get fully charged. As I now have a 2.1A AC adapter, it’s not a whole lot of time right now and that time is definitely worth it for the future.

Overall, it’s a really nice device, and affordable compared to under-powered OEM-units as well at just around $50-60.
